Following the release of her dreamy new single 'Goddess, Amorie shares with us what she describes as the 'Goddess palate'. If you're a fan of any of the tracks below, be sure to check out the music video for 'Goddess' below!
1. Doralice by Getz/Gilberto
I spent a lot of time in Portugal right before we went to finish writing and recording Goddess and I listened to this album often while I was there. I love the pace, the lyrics dance forward in such an enticing way. I love the interplay between the vocals and the sax, and those cheeky piano stabs every now and again.
2. Me & You Together Song - The 1975
I absolutely adore this kind of infatuation coupled with the 'I’ve been in love with you for ages' feeling — that a relationship can be familiar while dancing on that edge of 'what if'. Those relationships that go on for years and ebb & flow in terms of intimacy and severity, I love the drama and excitement. I love the nostalgic feel this one has sonically as well, it accentuates the long-standing nature of the relationships it reminds me of! I love when a song creates a whole experience like that.
3. Acid Raindrops - People Under The Stairs
This track articulates so many of the things that bring me peace — when I’m getting overwhelmed or anxious, this one reminds me to unwind and let the music take over my soul, body, and mind. I love the percussion and the delivery is so effective, I remember feeling like every word was truly penetrating my mind the first time I heard it.
4. Shut Off The Lights - Bastille
Bastille are one of my all-time favourite bands and I HAVE to dance to this one! It romanticises the simplicity of being present in the moment with someone, having that dancing-in-the-living-room together kind of carefree, safe love. That’s the kind of casual love Goddess is about.
5. Veg Out (Wasting Thyme)
I had to include this on the Goddess palate. It has that same kind of laidback, summery atmosphere Goddess has. Lyrically it’s another one that puts me in a carefree state and that piano is like earcandy.
