5 Songs I Love w/ Conchis

On the back of her long awaited debut album 'Chapters', we sat down with the amazing and multi-faceted artist Conchis to learn all about the 5 songs she loves, exclusively for FLEX!

1. Thom Yorke - Harrowdown Hill

If there’s one track I wish I had written, it’s probably this one. It’s been my favourite song ever since it came out in 2006. I love the melodies, the rhythms, and the lyrics. It’s such a beautiful blend of melancholy and hope. The whole album is great, but this is by far my favourite.

2. Lorn - Acid Rain

This song cuts straight into the darkest parts of my soul. I love Lorn’s dark, twisted, and gritty sound. He’s a master of minimalism, and he pulls it off because his sounds are so powerful. I wish I had access to the same gear as him and the ability to create such incredible textures and sounds. It was hard to pick a favourite from him, but the melody in this track is just outstanding, so it came out on top.

3. Radiohead - Where I End and You Begin

Radiohead is probably my favourite band, and picking just one song from these masters is nearly impossible. But this one stands out to me because of its incredible bassline and melodies. It’s been a favourite for years, and strangely, it’s also perfect for energetic cleaning sessions.

4. Fever Ray - When I Grow Up

Fever Ray is another one of my favourite artists, especially the first album. The video for this track is amazing, and the song itself is so versatile—it works whether you’re in an upbeat or melancholic mood. It’s such a perfect blend of contrasts.

5. Slowdive - When The Sun Hits

I went through a serious shoegaze phase, and this track still gets to me. The reverby, melancholic vibe is so nostalgic—it always takes me back to that time in my life. It’s one of those songs that feels like a wave of emotion and longing every time you hear it.
