London-based band Dogviolet have just released the new single 'Dandelion', and evocative new single which showcases the band bands unique blend of grunge, shoegaze, and alternative rock. Delicate and emotive, yet dark and dirven, the single brings varying elements together to create a track which is beautifully balanced.

We wanted to know more about the bands influences so we spoke to them about 5 of their favourite tracks:

The Cranberries - Zombie

The Cranberries are the band we get compared to the most, and it’s no surprise because we've been fans for a really long time. We love their 90s alt-rock sound, and Dolores O'Riordan’s signature vocals are an inspiration for Naz. 'Zombie' is such a powerful song, both lyrically and instrumentally.

Marika Hackman - all night

Marika Hackman is probably the artist I (Ella) have listened to the most over the past few years. I love how she combines melancholic folk, sultry alt rock and grunge. Her melodies are excellent and unobvious and I love how each of her albums has such a different sound and vibe. She's also a great guitarist and a talented producer.

A Perfect Circle - Weak And Powerless

Although A Perfect Circle is quite different to Dogviolet, the darkness, intricate intertwining guitar and driving rhythm is a really big influence. Their music has a real depth of emotion and a dynamism that pulls you in.

Heartworms - Consistent Dedication

We’re all huge fans of Heartworms and have been following her journey since seeing her at the Windmill in 2021. We were lucky enough to support her at Village Underground in 2023, which was an amazing show. Her old school gothic sound, discordant guitars, dark synths, vocal delivery and the layering of sound create such a captivating atmosphere.

Silversun Pickups - Sort of

Sort of is the first song I (Naz) discovered by Silversun Pickups – I find their music both calming and motivating. When we started Dogviolet, they were a band that I kept coming back to as inspiration because of those feelings their music evokes in me, but also for their fuzzy guitars, sound textures and dramatic melodies.
