5 songs I love w/ Falling Together

Falling Together (Raymond Young) is a Toronto based pop singer-songwriter who is set to captivate listeners with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP and stunning lead single, ‘Without You’.  The song features a mesmerising collaboration with fellow Toronto-based pop artist REIGN, whose enchanting voice beautifully complements Falling Together’s emotive delivery.

His sumptuous blend of modernised alt-pop draws listeners in from the first second, creating a deeply resonating and relatable experience. We sat down with ena b. to learn her 5 songs that she loves right now, exclusively for FLEX!

1. Elton John - Your Song

I want to start with Elton John and "Your Song". My older brother, whom I immensely looked up to, was a huge Elton John fan, and I remember being in the other room overhearing him play Elton John LPs. This song emulates what a love song should be. Although I know Bernie Taupin wrote it, I believe he wrote it directly from the heart. But that’s a great thing about music - it can express how you’re feeling while you’re listening to the words. For me, it's about finding that person that you’d give anything to.

2. Ed Sheeran - Dive

Ed Sheeran is one of the most incredible songwriters of today, and again, his library is so vast, with incredible timeless music. I could have chosen half a dozen of his songs, so why did I choose the one that maybe fewer people even know? "Dive" Because at the end of the day, before we dive into who knows what, we want a guarantee ... for me though, it was the timing of that song coming out. I was in a space and time that literally resonated with the choices I was making.

3. Anson Saebra - Walked Through Hell

4. Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling in Love

Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" is simply beautiful. I could use all five of my favorite songs as Elvis songs. But every version of "Can't Help Falling in Love" is beautiful. I believe it’s one of the most beautiful romantic love songs that has ever been written. My point is that it is timeless. You can hear it over and over again, and when you hear somebody else playing it, you always enjoy it.

5. Shawn Mendes - Nervous

And finally, not in any particular order, Shawn Mendes. Again, he’s truly one of my favorite recording artists today, so I picked this song, "Nervous". Again, it's a lesser-known song. If you know this song or have ever heard this song, it's that right mix of a story about having a crush on somebody and not even being sure how to handle it, and an upbeat chorus that captures your soul when the music comes alive. I remember I had sent it to a friend of mine and later played her the song. She said, "I've never heard it that way." It's very intimate, but the song is very passionate and fun for me.

For all of the above, I love the authenticity in the writer's perspective. There’s nothing more powerful or memorable than a song for a moment.
