5 Songs I Love w/ Jboz

San Diego based up and comer Jboz recently released his pulsing new single ‘Twilight’, an exciting taste of what to expect from the upcoming album ‘Meet Me At The Beach House’. With elements of R&B, Pop and Hip-Hop all finding their way into his music, we were intrigued to know more about what music inspires Jboz. Here are 5 of his favourites:

North Face - Odie This song has been out for about 4 years, but it is one that always gives me a sense of comfort. I think I can relate to the song because of going through a similar situation working a job to support my career, similar to Odie’s. Plus the song is super catchy, and a good vibe to play at any time of the day.

Ninety - Jaden

I am a music theory guy at heart, and this song displays some very interesting sections and switch ups that are admirable. Very chill raps, and nice guitar chord progressions. I love the production on this song overall.

Chanel - Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean has always found comfort in uncertainty, where lines blur and it is something I can really relate to. Being an outsider, not making music the same way as everyone else. I remember when I first heard this song I was fascinated at the cadences that Frank used. The melodies, and layered harmonies make this song stand out from top to bottom. No one else can get me lost in a song like Frank can.

Calm Down - Rema

I found this song earlier this year. This is one of those songs that I could honestly play 1000 times and never get tired of it. Afrobeats have always been something that have resonated with me, and Rema has such a unique approach to his music that it shows in his performances.

CPU - Raury (Ft. RZA)

I found Raury back in College around 2017 and instantly fell in love with his authenticity. He is one of those true artists that wears everything on his sleeve. He has a very unique voice, and uses live instruments which I admire in the hip hop landscape.
