Following the release of his captivating new single 'Not Afraid', we caught up with singer-songwriter Larry Thomas Moore Jr. to find out more about the music he loves and why! Check out his picks below and if you're a fan, be sure to check out his latest release!
1. A SONG FOR YOU - Leon Russell & Friends (1971)
This is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The raw emotion in Leon’s voice convinces me of how much this song means to him personally. A lot of people have covered this song, but his version always holds a special place with me. I love the setting of the video and its genuine simplicity.
From the first “UHHH” this song is rocking’!! I love the how her voice is the perfect combination of smooth and aggressive. This is rock n roll at its finest. A steady driving beat, rocking guitar and a fantastic lead singer. This is what rock n roll should be.
3. Tyler Childers - Nose On The Grindstone
Tyler is the real deal. There’s a lot of artists and acts that call themselves “country” music. A lot of them don’t do the genre justice at all. Just because you have a steel guitar and sing with a souther draw doesn’t make you country. This man is one of that is keeping real country alive. It’s impossible for me to hear his voice and not feel the emotion he puts in to everything he does. Artists like this give me hope that genuine music is still alive and well.
4. Tom Jones Live - 'Burning Hell' Session
A good friend of mine played this song for me, he didn’t tell me who it was. It is a bluesy, rocking jam and I was absolutely shocked when I realized it was Tom Jones! He is a legend in the music industry and I had know clue he had ever recorded anything like this. It’s just a fun song to listen to and it gave me a whole new respect for a man that had a long lasting successful career.
5. Rival Sons - Long As I Can See the Light
This is a fantastic cover of a classic Creedence Clearwater Revival song. Rival Sons are one of the most underrated bands out there today. Jay Buchanan has one of the best rock voices I’ve ever heard. The fact that these guys aren’t bigger than they are is shocking to me. Their original songs are just as fantastic as this cover.
