Following the release of his latest single 'True Colors', Flex caught up with Pittsburgh-based artist Luwidakid. Known for his vibrant blend of Afrobeats and Hip-Hop, we wanted to learn more about what influences his eclectic sound. If you enjoy Luwidakid's picks, be sure to check out 'True Colors' at the end of the article.

1. KiD CuDI - Soundtrack 2 My Life

I’ve even been listening to this song every year since it came out. Love how Cudi simply tells his life story in such a smooth way. That distorted electric guitar that plays throughout is something that rings in my ear constantly. Every word and every line is delivered clearly and paints a vivid picture. There are alot of good cudi songs but this is definitely the number one in my book.

2. Bob Marley - Sun Is Shining

This song truly has the power to change my mood, it sounds like sunshine. Brings back so many good memories whenever I listen. This song is just a reminder that life is beautiful. On a sunny day, play this and walk around or take a ride.

3. Hurricane Wisdom - Don’t Care

This is so far my favorite song of 2025. I just think it’s beautiful from the way it’s delivered, the lyrics and the feeling. Hurricane’s voice floats on the beat effortlessly with a very simple yet creative hook. Maybe also because we live in world now with millions of opinions everyday and I feel like I DONT CARE a lot. This song is the definition of “sometimes less is more”. I’ve had it in repeat since it released

4. Tame Impala - Borderline

5. Dominick Fike - Vampire

Discovered his music when he dropped 3 nights but I didn’t really listen till 2023. I always go back to this song. I love funky groovy music like this and this gotta be one of the coolest joints I’ve heard from a pop artist. “Are we dead is this really red wine….” To me is one of the most amazing pre hook ever. The electric guitar in this is super dope too
