5 Songs I Love w/ magenta

We caught up with Canadian alternative-pop artist magenta to find out what 5 songs she loves the most at the minute, if you enjoy magenta's picks be sure to check out her latest single 'your love is real' at the end of the article.

1. chemical mark · Nemahsis

I listened to this album from top to bottom and was completely blown away. It is just so interesting and captivating. You can really hear the attention to detail and this song in particular is just so emotional and I'm a sucker for emotional songs. I found that each song on this record held so much power in itself but also in relation to the album as a whole. I love the production style on this record, each song has something new that gives you shivers.

2. Look At That Woman - ROLE MODEL

I love this song and this album so much. It's a heartbreak album at its core but it's so fun to listen to. Role Model is such a playful songwriter and I love the cleverness in his lyrics and the catchyness in his melodies. Heartbreak can often be such a serious topic but I love how he portrays his heartbreak in this album as something almost sweet at times.

3. you were good to me - Jeremy Zucker, Chelsea Cutler

This song is a staple in my sad playlist. This song and EP got me through my depressed years in high school and is just so beautifully emotional in the songwriting, the singing and production. The brent projects by Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler are some of my favourite music. I love the folk essence of it; it has such a nostalgic feeling. I also really love the live versions of these songs, they feel even more emotional when sung live.

4. Malleable - Tiny Habits

A simple piano song yet so catchy and impactful. Tiny Habits' harmonies always make me feel things and this song is a great example. The lyricism in this song is also really interesting and I love the storytelling aspect of it. I also find the metaphor of being malleable for someone so smart and vulnerable. Again, another great album in whole.

5. Why Why Why - Shawn Mendes

I grew up as a diehard Shawn Mendes fan so I was so happy when he released this one. This song is such a strong re-entrance into the music world and I think his vulnerability has always been such a strong characteristic of him and his music. I was moved by the emotion in this track and you can really feel his truth pour through. I know the rest of the album is going to be equally as good if not better and I'm so excited to listen to it.
