Following the release of his latest single 'NEVER!', Flex caught up with LA-based rock artist Noam Fainer to find out what inspires his eclectic sound, if you enjoy Noam's picks be sure to check out 'NEVER!' at the end of the article.
1. Oasis - Live Forever
"This song pretty much made me wanna make music I heard it for the first time on the “Supersonic” documentary on Oasis and I was like, "f*ck it, I wanna do it too." Liam's such a cool man hahaha and Noel is a brilliant songwriter and character It’s just a timeless banger, eternal guitars and vocals, it hits right to the heart every time and makes you wanna light a cig and open a beer in the streets of Manchester"
2. The Beatles - A Day In The Life
"The peak of The Beatles career in my opinion It feels to me like this song captures the movement of the entire earth, in a very genuine yet very cinematic way Lennon’s vocals man, so much psychedelic emotion that hits the moment he starts singing. This song has no rules; it travels and flies wherever it wants to yet it keeps it all glued under a metaphysical logic that was probably influenced by the deep creative state of mind the Beatles were in that era. And the orchestra man, that’s so punk yet done so grandiose and precise
That's pretty much what I wanna do in my music."
3. Frank Ocean - Seigfried
"Just one of those songs that dive so deep into a human being’s soul that you feel like you’re there in the room with him, That’s just it."
4. Jeff Buckley - So Real
"Oh, what a tune, I wish I was Jeff Buckley. This song hits every time and it feels like a perfect combination of 90s grunge hits to Jeff’s abstract crazy angelic vocals. Also, it reminds me of my girl, so I love it."
5. Mozart - Requiem
"A song that's as good as "A Day In The Life" hahaha, Mozart is the goat, every note, harmony, it’s fucking history. He’s a genius, much less commercial then the majority of this industry these days. Hahaha, but for real he is great and this piece is like one of the greatest music pieces ever written."
