Following the release of their latest single 'Space Time Traveller', Flex caught up with London-based outfit Resident Bohemian to find out more about what influences their eclectic sound. 1. The Doors - Cars Hiss By My Window (2021 Remaster)
RIKKI: "Theres just something about this theatrical, atmospheric and annoyingly simple track from LA woman that always transports me to a motel room right next to Jim morrison, looking out of the window at the passing cars and thinking about his poems while some gal is fast asleep in the bed next to him. A very important reminder that less is more."
2. Jimi Hendrix Bold as Love
Dre: "I chose this song because of its melodic approach, the simple structure and complex multi guitar parts. Hendrix using the guitar as an extension of himself is highly inspiring and continues to prove that he was one-of-a-kind. This song inspires me every time I listen to it"
3. Rodriguez - Cause
CJ Brogan: "Sixto Rodriguez has been a huge influence to me, I saw him perform at the Royal Albert Hall, in the silence between one of his songs performed I shouted out "you're my hero" to which he replied in the microphone "No you are" a moment that will stay with me forever. His story, persona, songwriting and music are so powerful to me.
4. Eagle - Journey of the Sorcerer
Band: "I grew up listening to audiobooks of the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series, this song was chosen for the theme of the film, and it really has that adrift in space feel to it, so I couldn't think of a more fitting song for our band to choose, have it on vinyl and love listening to it"
5. Yes - Roundabout
Band: "another from the vinyl collection, this song has always been in our friendship, playing in the flat we all lived in 7 years ago all the way up to today. We love this song deeply, I play it on the twelve string, both Dre and I can do the bass line and I'm sure RIKKI can play it too, he can most things he hears by ear, we love this song"
