Following the release of her latest single 'i take it personally', Flex caught up with Rose Devika to find out more about what influences her eclectic sound.

  1. Arsonist’s Lullabye - Hozier

"Arsonist’s Lullabye" is probably my favorite song in the world. I love absolutely everything about it—I even have the title tattooed on my arm. From the raw yet poetic lyricism to the gritty instrumentation and haunting backing vocals, there isn’t a single element that doesn’t move me deeply and powerfully.

  1. The View Between Villages - Noah Kahan

I’ve had “The View Between Villages” on repeat since I discovered it a few months ago. I love how its structure defies a standard formula and instead feels more like opening the page of a journal. The instrumentation, emotion, and lyrics build together perfectly.

  1. Nelsonwood Lane - Matt Maeson

Matt Maeson has been one of my favorite artists since I first discovered his EP in 2017. There’s something profoundly intimate, deeply lonely, and emotionally resilient about his music that really resonates with me. I love the storytelling in “Nelsonwood Lane,” and his vocals feel incredibly personal.

  1. After the Storm - Mumford & Sons

This song has been close to my heart for many years. Similarly to “Arsonist’s Lullabye,” I have the melody to the words “after the storm” tattooed on my upper arm. I love how the lyrics carry a sense of desperation and darkness, yet still feel deeply hopeful to me. The simple instrumental arrangement and subtle harmonies are beautiful, too.

  1. Lover, You Should’ve Come Over - Jeff Buckley

I think this song is a masterpiece. The lyrics are stunning, Jeff’s voice is flawless, and the dense instrumentation that builds and fluctuates throughout only amplifies its emotional intensity. It’s heart-wrenching in a beautiful way and makes me feel a deep sense of longing.
