5 Songs I Love w/ Sleepy Beaucat

Alternative rock risers Sleepy Beaucat have just dropped their alluring new single 'Straightjacket'. The edgy new offering got us wondering what might be some of the band's favourite tracks of all time, so here they are below! If you're a fan of the epic tracks below, be sure to check out 'Straightjacket'.

1. So Real - Jeff Buckley

Like many of Jeff Buckley's songs, this one is a bit of a journey. The whole song has this really soft yet tense and haunting vibe which is then complimented by Jeff's amazing vocal performance. Really can't say enough about this song. It's just flawless. 2. Pure Morning - Placebo

It’s a pure anthem, that hits every time. Laced in gritty angst, the lyrics communicate and illustrate a dark yet beautiful urban life. Whilst the relatively simple instrumental parts work in perfect conjunction. It’s simple but deadly effective. In the end I think it just speaks to my soul, without a doubt it connects deeply with me. I’ll always be in love with it. I’ll always be in love with the entire record, Go listen to “without out you I’m nothing”, it all starts with “pure morning”. 3. Trophies in the Attic - Phoxjaw

It’s a theatrical journey, which captures you not only with the lyrical content but the dynamic nature of the song. The way the instrumentation imitates the lyrics is truly outstanding.

4. Polyphia - Playing God

There’s a lot to like about this song, I think their innovative take on math rock is nothing less than exceptional. The fusion of trap drums, Latin guitar and math rock is somehow easy listening. Honestly don’t know how they do it but I think it’s fab.

5. Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here - Enter Shikari

I chose this song because it showed the range and versatility within Enter Shikari. What always look for in bands and music is dynamics and being able to take on many different genres and make them their own. That as well as the time I first heard it being in school with a lot of friends who were fake which made the lyrics of the song resonate deeply with what I was going through at the time and that will always stick with me.
