We caught up with Canadian artist Taia Bohne following the release of her captivating new track 'Ford Fusion'. Taia takes us through 5 of her favourite tracks of all time and why. If you're a fan of her choices, be sure to check out 'Ford Fusion' below!
1- Pleaser by Wallows
This song is one of my favorites. The lyrics are so descriptive and interesting, but it's also such a great musical experience. I love the switch in the time signature from the verses to the chorus. It makes it hard not to pay attention while it's on and it's just a great song all around.
2- We'll Never Have Sex by Leith Ross
Leith Ross did a fantastic job with this song. The message of the song is beautiful and sweet and the production matches it perfectly. Each word seems to have been carefully chosen. It's a short song, but each lyric is so powerful that Leith says all that needs to be said in just a minute and a half.
3- Cate's Brother by Maisie Peters
If there's one thing I absolutely love about songwriting it is telling a story and Maisie Peters does just that with this song. I also happen to love the "dating your friend's brother" trope so Cate's Brother just does it all for me. The first time I heard this song I was hanging on every word dying to know what happened next. The melody is so catchy and the early 2000's rock feel matches the feeling of a new crush.
4- Boys Will Be Bugs by Cavetown
Great songwriting to me is when an artist writes a song that makes their listeners feel like they relate even when they really don't. Boys Will Be Bugs is a perfect example of this to me because it's written from the perspective of a 14 year-old boy. As a 20 year-old girl, I definitely don't know what it's like to be a 14 year-old boy, but when I listen to this song I do. It's exactly what I imagine a 14 year-old boy's intermonologue would be.
5- Time On by Ella Jane
Ella Jane is so underrated. Time On is her most recent release and I've been listening to it non stop. It is so relatable for girls everywhere and Ella has a beautiful voice. This song is timeless and will always be good regardless of what is trending, in my opinion.
