Following the release of his 4-track EP 'Does It Make Sense Yet?', Felx caught up with LA multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Noah Shaner AKA Twilight Lounge to find out more about what influences his psychedelic sound. If you enjoy Noah's picks be sure to check out 'Does It Make Sense Yet?' at the end of the article.
1. Grace - Jeff Buckley
Grace isn’t my favorite Jeff Buckley song, but it was the first one I heard when I was 15 so it holds a special place in my heart. Every element of this song is hypnotizing in it’s own way, but the way they all come together is just phenomenal.
2. Flash Delirium - MGMT
It’s hard to choose between Flash Delirium and Siberian Breaks but honestly I could’ve picked any song off of Congratulations and been happy with my choice. This is one of my go to albums when I need a quick dose of psychedelia.
3. And Your Bird Can Sing - The Beatles
There are so many things I could say about this song and this album. Nothing makes me feel the way Revolver does. A lot of people will say that Abbey Road or the White Album is where the Beatles were at their best but nothing will ever touch Revolver for me.
4. West Coast Blues - Wes Montgomery
Wes Montgomery is one of the best players to ever do it. It’s impossible for me to listen to him play without getting the urge to go pick up a guitar. Listening to him just makes me want to be a better musician.
5. Help on the Way -> Slipknot! -> Franklin’s Tower - Grateful Dead
This one is kind of cheating because it's 3 songs but in context it's all one performance. There are so many different dead performances and songs I could've chosen but this run at Winterland just felt fitting. Jerry Garcia made me really believe in the magic of music when I was a kid and quite frankly still does. There have been more times than I can count where I was lost and had the dead guide me back home.
