As the temperature starts to rise & Love Island is on your TV in the evenings, everyone really only has one thought in mind: what should I be listening to right now in order to have the best summer ever? Well, C Scarlet has just the song — "Do You Wanna". To celebrate the release, we asked the rising Milton Keynes singer about her top 5 tracks she loves & thinks you should have on your playlists.
Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen - Baz Luhrmann
I think this song is absolutely amazing. It was played to me when I was around 7 years of age by my Dad. At the time I didn’t think much of it and I didn’t really understand it. The track doesn’t have singing vocals, it is composed of spoken, random pieces of advice on life, and how to lead a happier life. As I get older, the more I realise how significant each piece of advice in this song is. If you haven’t heard it I would fully recommend that you do, and re-listen every now and then and see how they begin to resonate!
Sunchyme - Dario G
This song is such an amazing piece of art and I fully enjoy it no matter when or where I hear it. It is so feel-good, and the music video just tops it off! The song takes you on such a journey and really creates a sense of escapism, which in my eyes is what music is all about.
Wonderwall - Oasis
This speaks for itself, hence why it’s made my top 5. This for me is the ultimate Brit song. No matter your age or destination, this song is known and received by all. The lyrics, composition and melody just create magic in my eyes.
Better Off Alone - Alice Deejay
A song which may not be known by all, but I think should be celebrated. This is such a nostalgic song for me, and although the lyric content and beat is somewhat simple, it is still so powerful and enjoyable.
Your Song - Elton John
Elton John is clearly a genius, but this song for me is one of his best. So moving and powerful, the lyrics are pure perfection and the piano notation is beautiful.
