5 Songs I Love w/ Darlin

Updated: Sep 26, 2023

Last week, Berlin indie pop artist Darlin released her track, "Booze Hound." Following the highlights of a party, the chorus sparkles while she sings, “In the heart of the night we’re shining brighter than champagne in the flashlight." It is the perfect introduction to her artistry, which comes from a formal musical education. She even has her own record label, Mosaik Records.

We sat down with Darlin to discuss her favorite tracks, and how they inspire her!

1. The March of the Black Queen - Queen

"This song has been my all-time-favorite for years, I love the rather rough, early Queen-vibe. To me it sounds almost like a previous version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Hardly anyone knows the song, it definitely deserves more attention." 2. The Logical Song - Supertramp

"It somehow takes me back to a time when I didn’t even exist, but still feel indescribably at home. I’m a big fan of the nostalgic lyrics and melodies. Over the years it also became my airplane song, so whenever I’m flying somewhere this is the first song I play at take-off." 3. Skin Crawl - UPSAHL

"UPSAHL is my queen when I need a confidence boost. 'Skin Crawl' has the absolute prettiest melody lines but also so much energy in her vocals and the production that I just have to feel good when I listen to it." 4. I Belong to You - Muse

"Muse obviously has dozens of great songs, but this one’s song structure hits different! They put a French interlude in the middle of the song with an amazing build-up towards the end. It’s just so creative that it really impresses me and on top of that it has very beautiful and poetic lyrics." 5. Out of the Ordinary - Jonny Lucas

"My favorite easy-listening indie song! I love to put it on when I walk through the streets on a sunny day in fall and just do nothing other than walking and enjoying life for a few minutes. It always gets me out of a bad mood."

"Blood Hound" is available across streaming platforms.
