Suffolk alt-pop singer-songwriter Loome has returned with the new single 'MARS'. Another fine example of his ability to craft heartfelt yet accessible, vibrantly catchy and musically rich songwriting, the single is a great addition to the artists growing catalogue.
We wanted to know more about what music inspires Loome, what he listens to from day to day. Over to Loome to talk us through five of his favourites:
All Your Exes - Julia Michaels
Julia is so unapologetically unhinged in this song, which I found so refreshing when everyone else was just trying to ‘sound cool’. It made feel that it’s ok not to be ok and then put it in a song for the world to hear.
Paradise - Coldplay
The first time I heard Coldplay play live I ugly cried for through the first 15 minutes of the show…which was weird cause it was the happiest place on earth, there were literally multicoloured balloons bouncing off my head. I have never and probably will never ‘feel’ music more viscerally than this. Whatever it was, it transcended music and lyrics.
Stay - Post Malone
Great songwriting wins every fucking time and this song reminds me of that every time I hear it.
I’m So Tired… - Lauv ft Troye Sivan
It sounds happy but it’s so so sad. That emotional push and pull is something I feel everyday. If happiness is black and sadness is white, life is a colourful grey.
Menswear - The 1975
Hearing this for the first time made my brain explode. I was brought up on Radio One and the concept that a track didn’t have a single bit of vocal until 1:43 blew every songwriting rule into smithereens. The combination of its electronic soundscape and dark storytelling lyrics were an absolute game changer.
