And The Sunset Burns are well and truly back as they release their latest indie anthem ‘Take It Or Leave It’. As the band gears up to release their debut album All My Sins, the group are aiming to pack an emphatic emotional punch with their songwriting to be next in line to wear the indie crowns.
Launching itself into the airwaves with a strict jangle rhythm, chorus-dripping guitar chops welcome a strong melodic vocal before the track kickstarts itself. Building a steady tension, it is not long before the chorus unfolds as an explosion of catchy melody, quick hooks and emphatic songwriter. And The Sunset Burns manage to produce a sound that feels quintessentially indie, their approach to music feeling just as summery as it does raw and exciting. ‘Take It Or Leave It’ draws on nostalgic elements left over from The Doors but amplifies them with a contemporary twist as heard in the likes of The Lemon Twigs and Viola Beach.
Explaining the release, the band comment, “Ruben (drummer) wrote the song while living in Tooting, just before joining the band. He was inspired by the jangly sound of Ooh La La by the Faces and came up with the rhythm guitar riff that runs through the song on his acoustic guitar. It began very much as an acoustic song, but when you present a song to the band it takes on a new life. Everyone brought their own influences and it evolved into the modern vintage blend it is now.”
