Annah Marcelle Releases Synth-Soaked Single ‘Mars’

Annah Marcelle has recently released her latest single ‘Mars’. Hailing from Virginia, the singer-songwriter traveled to Nashville to create the synth-soaked, pop soundscape of ‘Mars’ This captivating single delved into themes of self-identity and fresh starts, and is the first glimpse of her upcoming EP, Aftermath, a captivating collection of five songs that travel through the emotional fallout from intense heartbreak. Annah plans to release each track sequentially every six weeks, with the full EP expected by Autumn 2024.

Inspired by the mysterious charm of the red planet, "Mars" mirrors the complexities and transformative nature of human relationships. Annah draws a parallel between the idea of moving to Mars to the isolation of losing yourself and other connections when entering a relationship. Annah encapsulates this experience with stunning imagery. Her lyrics seem far beyond her years, at just nineteen years old, Annah’s lyrical clarity and emotive language are incredibly engaging and paint a perfect picture throughout this track. Speaking on the track Annah says,

“I’ve always thought the idea of people wanting to go to Mars was intriguing and crazy,” Annah explains. “That would definitely be out of my comfort zone! It made me realize that leaving your life behind to go to Mars is a lot like losing yourself and your identity for a person or relationship.”

For the production of Aftermath, Annah collaborated with Nashville-based producer Kara Greskovic, marking her first time entering into Nashville’s vibrant creative scene. The collaboration marks a pivotal moment in Annah Marcelle’s musical journey, as she steps out into the “Music City,” Nashville, the birthplace of country, bluegrass and rock. It’s of no doubt the upcoming EP ‘Aftermath’ will be a showcase of this evolution in Annah’s sound.

Annah likens her songwriting process to painting, finding joy and fulfilment in each creation: “There is nothing better than the satisfaction you feel after completing a song and feeling like it’s some of your best work. It’s a big reason that keeps me writing. Writing a song is like painting—after you’re done, you admire it, and it just makes you want to create another.”
