Swindon indie-rockers Atari Pilot recently released a new single entitled ‘The rules never change’. Blending the electronic and acoustic with rich synth leads doubled with twinkling piano, the band sets the scene for catchy hooks and gleaming melodies. As the distorted guitars and pumping drums are introduced, Atari Pilot creates a sense of rise and fall as the track becomes more momentous. With more layers of glowing instrumentation arriving throughout, the track reaches a final chorus in which the vocals are brought to a celestial level, intricately crafting a spacey single.
Atari Pilot shared their thoughts on the track, “This was a nice change up , those baggy drums with a more funky bass line. The theme of the song being how we’re sometimes drawn to things that are bad for us and we have to handle the consequences.”
Comprised of vocalist Onze, bassist Paj, drummer Andy and guitarist Frosty, Atari Pilot re-emerged in 2020 after Onze’s cancer recovery reignited a spark for the four-piece to make some music. Though they debuted in 2011, it’s since this new era that they’ve garnered the most momentum, extending their influences with each new release.
