Formed in 2018, Baba Ganoush have gained a reputation in London for their jazzy, psychedelic and rock twinged sound that takes influence from a range of artists such as Radiohead, Floating Points, Tame Impala and BADBADNOTGOOD. The band are looking to continue to enchant audiences for years to come, so are making the jump to recording music.
With a unique sound laced in a locked-in groove that only comes with individual talents clicking in the studio, Baba Ganoush have debuted with single ‘Swimming’. The track features vocalist and keys player Natalie Duncan. Irresistible drums, infectious bass, confident, vibrant guitars and glittery keys all show an incredible instrumental talent, both technically and in performance. The vocal performance is gorgeous and sweet, flowing through the track with gentle, pretty harmonies to back it up. The group hit the ground running with a genre-blending, polished and fresh new sound.
The band explain, “We have been playing music together for years but have been intentionally waiting for the right song before doing our first release. We wrote ‘Swimming’ in an hour, and knew straight away it would be our debut single. We recorded it in our friend Pete Beardsworth’s living room. It features singing from the wonderful Natalie Duncan, who recorded her vocals in her bedroom wardrobe. We wanted to record and release this song entirely ourselves, to celebrate and channel the joy we experience when playing music together, for each other.”
