Emerging from Northampton’s thriving music scene, Balter are a four-piece jangle-pop band set to make their mark in 2025. Comprised of Tom Drury (vocals/guitar), Jake Lewis (guitar), Liam Kay (bass), and Jack Cox (drums), the band’s anthemic, hook-filled sound belies their youth—having only recently finished their GCSEs.

Despite their tender age, Balter have already built a buzzworthy reputation through packed-out live shows, showcasing a natural energy that has quickly captured local audiences. With a wave of momentum behind them, the band have now delivered their highly-anticipated debut single 'Someone New'.

Produced by Jonathan Hucks (Hallan, Dream Nails), 'Someone New' delivers melodic, emotionally charged indie rock, exploring themes of heartbreak and self-reflection. Frontman Tom Drury explains:

“This is about the aftermath of a relationship and the overwhelming feelings of loneliness and regret. I wrote this song after a particularly painful breakup, and it’s based around the idea of wanting to change myself in order to be better for them. I wanted to be the ‘someone new’ rather than her finding that in someone else.”
