'Before The Fall' is the latest track from old-school innovators Beat The Drum. The track is unbound by any label other than alternative, its experimental rock sound littered with twinkling synth arpeggios, squelchy electronic sounds and rich brass stabs. Constantly growing around the lead vocals into a flourishing dance of sound, 'Before The Fall' thematically dives into the role of technology in our lives, asking questions about rapid development, human influence and the direction of our future. They capture both a dystopian vision of what is to come alongside a high-energy, thoughtful but optimistic overall sound, playing into fears but approaching it with a positive attitude that makes the track a brilliant listen.
Beat The Drum comments, “We wrote ‘Before The Fall’ about this period as AI develops beyond our technological age into the information age. The period in which technological advances define social, economic and political life. As we start to know less and leave the thinking to machines we become just dumb monkeys without the fun.”
Forming originally in the eighties, garnering a reputation in West London as a five-piece cult band. They recorded a handful of vinyl singles and albums, receiving critical acclaim beneath the mainstream. After the five-piece fragmented into new projects, Chris and Steve, the duo now at the head of Beat The Drum, recorded material both as Crasherama and individually on new projects.
With a new attitude to the same core values they originally brought, they reformed Beat The Drum in 2016.
