New York-based rising star Camryn Quinlan returns with her vibrant and deeply personal new single ‘ex box’. This latest offering serves as a glimpse into her forthcoming debut EP, If We’re Being Honest, set for release on March 14th.

Showcasing her most commercial-leaning sound yet, ‘ex box’ sees Camryn embracing a more electronic-pop aesthetic, contrasting with the rootsy undertones of her previous work. Yet, at its core, the track remains true to her signature style—soulful, heartfelt, and emotionally resonant.

Produced by longtime collaborator Baldvin Hlynsson, ‘ex box’ blends electronic textures with organic instrumentation, creating a sound that is both understated and cinematic. Anchored by an irresistibly hooky chorus and raw, relatable lyricism, the song paints a picture of teenage heartache and nostalgia.

Speaking about the track, Camryn shares:

The meaning behind 'ex box', is as simple as keeping things that are left behind from exes. The box of cards, gifts, jewellery, movie tickets, and other sentiments that came from that special person. It’s almost like keeping those physical memories, kept the person in your life.

I made the song when I was starting freshman year of high school, and I was just writing in my bed one day, thinking about the box that I had in my room. It was finally recorded three years later when I met my Icelandic producer Baldvin. He flew from Iceland to New York for us to work together and then the song was all put together. It’s crazy how these things happen.

With a steadily growing fanbase (215K Instagram followers, 46K on TikTok) and a reputation for captivating live performances across New York, Camryn is proving herself as an artist to watch. If We’re Being Honest promises to be a collection of emotionally profound and musically rich songs, reflecting her influences from Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Chappell Roan.

With ‘ex box,’ Camryn Quinlan solidifies her place as a rising star in the pop world, effortlessly blending vulnerability, storytelling, and commercial appeal into one standout track.
