With music featured on the likes of BBC Northern Ireland, RTE Radio, Amazon Prime Films, and AerLingus, acclaimed at The National Film Awards, Chicago Film Festival, and the London Independent Film Festival and featured across BBC Radio, Cathal Murphy’s music has been steadily spreading through the world. With extensive tours across the UK, Germany, Switzerland and the U.S., and more in the books for as far ahead as 2026, the Edinburgh artist is garnering attention for both his music and performances.
Cathal’s latest release is the smooth ‘Emotional Disco’, building from subtle and reserved grooves into a vibrant and catchy soundscape. The track's blend of funk and pop influences makes it an addictive listen. The chorus is brimming with infectious vocals, breezy rhythms in the electric guitar and a steady but pumping backbeat. The soft swell of synths makes all the difference to fill the atmosphere and the keys twinkle across the top. Bursting into a vibrant instrumental solo to round out the music, it’s a nostalgic anthem anyone can get behind.
Cathal adds, ”It’s been two years in the making now and a favourite at live shows. It’s a sad song to groove out to/a happy song to cry to and I fell in love with that concept put in a classic disco setting. The crowd you hear in the track is actually a sample from a few headline shows so if you've seen me live in the last 2 years you’re probably in the track!”
