Cellz is a Munich based artist that has a passion for Soul, RnB, Hip-hop and Jazz which he builds into his highly collaborative method of song writing. Depart from Istanbul, Marc Ronin from Cape Town and Blue Glass from Antigua are just a few of the name that he’s worked alongside, helping him see both publication and radio success.
Fatbabs is a renowned beat maker that has seen success for over a decade. He rose to prominence in 2012 as the favoured collaborator of French Reggae icon Naâman. In 2017 he helped to establish Big Scoop Records, and is now focusing on solo projects that showcase his versatility.
Cellz and Fatbabs have teamed up for a new single ‘When I’m Back’. Lyrically the track dives into the difficulties of leaving the world behind, becoming a soldier, then returning to find out home has changed, as have your family and as have you. Cellz delivers an impressive vocal performance that conveys these emotions as well as bringing in his saxophone expertise to add to the instrumentation. He manages to be passionate and heartfelt throughout, still keeping the overall energy optimistic despite some of the lyrical content. The arrangement also includes an elegant beat that is mixed in with a good groove from other horns and bouncy keys line.
Elaborating further, Cellz shares, "When I'm Back has come a long way, you know. Honestly, the vocal arrangement and lyrics were written in a flash, but we saw massive potential in this track. So, we decided to take our time, pour in all our love and dedication, to make it as huge as possible. I absolutely enjoyed the journey and I'm really looking forward to working on more music with Fatbabs and his team!"
