Charlie Tonight teases debut album with the riotous ‘Do You Want Me (Come On)’

Charlie Tonight’s debut single is out now. The roaring sounds of ‘Do You Want Me (Come On) sees the newcomer embrace a melting pot of classic rock, alternative and post-punk, embracing songwriting talents as she infuses an unstoppable energy into every riff, every vocal line and the constant movement of the drums. Treating listeners to over a minute of instrumental prowess to kick the song off, it’s clear Charlie isn’t afraid of bucking trends, with multiple guitar elements making their debut before her powerful vocals.

When the vocals do emerge, they certainly do not disappoint, the artist immediately drawing attention with a balance of control and pure passion, confidently delivering her lyricism as if talking directly to the listener. Calm and pensive in the occasional softer moments and punching out with riotous ferocity when the song calls for it, it will no doubt spark a feverish anticipation for her debut album.

Charlie adds, “Do You Want Me started out with a question I kept asking myself at the end of a relationship: what does desire and love mean today? How much are we willing to let go of our fully independent selves to create something with somebody else? To let go of control? I've had to end more than one relationship that felt shallow although big feelings were announced. People in my generation are scared of feelings, attraction even. We are freer than we've ever been, yet we find it hard to change our lives, even in the slightest, to come out, to say yes to somebody new, fully and unconditionally. I thought that was the whole point of the 70s Revolution, Feminism, the hippies, the rockers, the LGBTQAI+ movement...Instead, we're more scared than we've ever been. Of course I was also angry and sad, so yes, this is a breakup song.”

Charlie Tonight is the brainchild of guitarist, singer and songwriter Charlie, driven by the ambition to perform on the world’s biggest stages. Though she started out in rock, Charlie temporarily pursued classical superstardom, now returning to her true calling with an electrifying new band behind her. On a quest for loud and powerful, her debut album is set to embody a classical discipline with raw rock energy.
