If you’ve ever found yourself elbows-deep in a pint, crowd-surfing through the final riff of a set in a packed dive bar, CHUB’s newest offering is your new national anthem. With ‘Microwave Dave’, the South Coast’s most chaotic crew doubles down on their unruly ethos, slinging a thrash-soaked earworm that’s equal parts reckless and razor-sharp.

Emerging from Eastbourne — not exactly known for punk carnage — CHUB have turned their seaside hometown into a breeding ground for mosh pits and mischief. Since 2019, they’ve bulldozed their way through venues and festivals alike, building a reputation for breakneck riffs, breakneck energy, and, well, breakdowns. And ‘Microwave Dave’ is the cherry on top of their unhinged discography.

The track hits like a shotgunned lager: fast, loud, and over before you know it, but it certainly leaves a mark. Built on a snarling guitar foundation and snarled-at-the-moon vocals, it gallops forward like a pissed-off skateboarder with nothing to lose. Lyrically, it’s a shout-out to a half-mythical pub regular, a local legend immortalised in beer-fuelled folklore and now, a circle-pit staple.

What makes CHUB tick isn’t just the sheer volume or pace, it’s their ability to be completely off-the-wall while still tight as hell. ‘Microwave Dave’ may feel like a chaotic punchline at first, but it’s also an honest snapshot of pub culture, small-town absurdity, and the camaraderie that forms in loud, sticky rooms full of strangers. It’s this fine balance between chaos and catharsis that keeps CHUB from being just another loud band — they’ve got the chops, and the charm, to make it count.

As their live schedule rolls across the UK this May, expect mayhem — but also expect catharsis, riffs, and a room full of people yelling “RIP Dave” like they knew the guy. CHUB might be irreverent, but they’re also irresistible — and with ‘Microwave Dave’, they’ve given us a punk-metal hymn for the modern pub warrior.
