Diving into the themes explored in the single, Cris comments, "Young Gun is a song about the fear of missing out on love because you’re too afraid to take a chance. I was that shy kid who couldn’t bring himself to say how he felt. Writing 'Young Gun' was a way to reconnect with that younger version of myself. I wanted to remind him—and anyone who has ever felt stuck in their own fears—that love is worth the risk.”
