Australian trio daste. continues to build excitement for their upcoming album, set for release in February 2025, with their latest single 'River'. Following recent tracks like 'Around', 'Colours', 'Atlas', and 'Starwriter', 'River' offers another glimpse into the band’s lush, collaborative sound.

Describing the creation process, Callum MacDonald of daste. recalls a magical writing session in the hinterlands behind Yamba, New South Wales: “River was a really rich collaborative experience. We spent a few days with our friends Aidan Rahman and Jess Cameron, jamming and shaping the song. Once we locked in the first chord progression, we bounced melodies and lyrics around the room, and the song started to take form. We knew we had landed on something special both in sound and meaning.”

The song explores the beauty and fear of love—embracing vulnerability despite the risk of heartbreak. It’s a reminder to take the leap into the unknown, no matter how daunting it feels. The track was later enriched in Los Angeles at Jim Alxndr’s studio, where organic sounds and an upright piano brought the initial vision to life.
