Dave Curl Surfs into Mellow Waters with Breezy New Single ‘Riders’

Australian-Swiss singer-songwriter and producer Dave Curl returns with his latest single, Riders, released on October 10, 2024, via Running Wild Records. With over 1.5 million Spotify streams to his name and support from outlets like CLASH Magazine, NOTION Magazine, and EARMILK, Curl continues to captivate listeners worldwide. His previous releases, Lockdown - Seven Nations and Don’t Talk Anymore, set the stage for this new era, showcasing his evolution into a more laid-back sound.

Riders marks a distinct shift for Curl, moving away from the fiery rock and roll of his earlier tracks towards a mellower, surf-rock vibe. The track features warm, reverb-soaked guitar, shakers, and a groovy bass line that carries a sense of calm and contentment. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a relaxed drive or an evening by the ocean. His ability to channel influences from 80s and 90s legends like Sting and Bryan Adams, while also drawing inspiration from modern greats like Ed Sheeran and John Mayer, shines through in this breezy anthem.

Inspired by his experiences as a "holiday-surfer," Curl wrote Riders after a session with the surf school ‘Riders’ on the picturesque shores of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Curl reflects on the highs and lows of surfing, capturing the exhilaration and peace that come after hours spent in the waves. He delivers this personal connection through a catchy chorus that resonates with both seasoned surfers and casual listeners alike.

With Riders, Curl has created an anthem that balances relaxation with introspection, offering a fresh twist to his folk-pop-rock sound. Fans of artists like Jack Johnson and The Beach Boys will find themselves at home in the sun-soaked melodies and laid-back energy of this surf-infused track.
