Nottingham-based singer-songwriter Dekker has returned with his new single 'Familiar Beat', offering an upbeat, deceptively light-hearted taste of his forthcoming fourth album 'Neither Up Nor Down', due in autumn 2025.

Known for his wide-brimmed hat and poetic songwriting, American-born Brookln Dekker continues to carve out his own thoughtful and sonically rich lane. 'Familiar Beat' is no exception—a subtle, looping groove anchors the track as Dekker’s layered vocal melodies and nuanced lyrics unfold. The track’s “boom ba, boom ba” rhythm feels like an invitation to dance through the forest, and that’s exactly what the accompanying video delivers—an earthy, whimsical visual set amongst the trees.

“I knew the moment the idea for this song fell into my lap it was going to be special,” Dekker shares. “It’s fun but also contains a heap of human stuff. There is a juxtaposition in it that really moves me. The song is rich with metaphor and deeper meaning while having the ‘feel’ of a light-hearted number.”
