Emma Hughes releases emotional new single 'Goodbyes'

London-based folk-pop artist Emma Hughes has unveiled her deeply personal new single 'Goodbyes'. Known for her introspective songwriting and rich, emotive vocals, Hughes crafts music she describes as “crying in the car music”—despite the irony that she can’t drive.

'Goodbyes' delves into the tangled emotions following a breakup, blending anger, frustration, and sadness with the eventual acceptance of loss. Drawing inspiration from indie-folk and classic country, Emma’s pop sensibility shines through in the track’s raw and relatable storytelling.

“I wrote Goodbyes at the start of a painful breakup,” Emma shares. “I was masking my sadness with anger and trying to resist the fact that it was over. The words just tumbled out of me at the piano. It’s become a cathartic song for me—I get to channel my frustration through the chords and vocals. I want listeners to feel the mix of emotions I felt and know that it’s okay to hurt, but also to let go.”
