First Day Of Spring recently released a new single ‘You’re Blue, I’m Blue’. Entering with immediacy the provocative nature of rich distorted melodies steadily falling forward takes hold of the listener. The cries of the bass lines and deeper chords hold themselves as a gritty, melancholic foundation to the shrieking lead melodies and sorrowful arpeggios.
You barely note the gentle strumming of an acoustic guitar, but once you notice it, you can hear its reservedness holding together the entire track. Vocal lines are spread throughout the music, leaving plenty of time for the audience to reflect and take in the emotional sonics, emerging with a pained but innately catchy repeating hook.
The band shares, ''You’re Blue I’m Blue is predominantly about tribes and ultimately the ability for those tribes to co-exist harmoniously and be among each other in the present. The partnership vocally with dear friend and vocal lead Mariah Maines has been a key part of the evolution of the song re-imagination. We wanted to make an unapologetic alt-song heavily guitar-based plug-in and go. Like the pixies or something.''
Featured in music media including press and radio, London-hailing First Day Of Spring are currently working towards their second EP, after making their presence known with their debut last year. Experimenting with their writing, the band’s member’s past influences correlate to a dark and brooding sound.
