The English-American trio FODÉ’s latest release ‘Dead Poets’ is a testament to their captivating sound that defies genres as they skillfully combine their original songs with parodies.
Two years ago, the band FODÉ—which consists of Ollie Norris on bass, James Clark on drums, and Fodé Busia on guitar and vocals—made their debut in the bustling London music scene. The band's satirical songs became viral hits on TikTok thanks to their hilarious parodies of popular musicians' styles. Using this momentum, they demonstrate a sound that transcends genres by deftly fusing parodies with their original music.
‘Dead Poets’ showcases FODÉ’s musical prowess while highlighting their intriguing songwriting and energetic production capabilities. The idea emerged from their popular TikTok, "How Frank Ocean sounds to non-fans," which received over 4 million views. FODÉ decided to alter the song after receiving several requests for a full version. The song gained further depth, flare, and vigour from the band. After a few hours, they were able to add their touch to the song, and they made a reservation at Premises Studios in Hackney for the official recording. It's ready to be given out to the thousands of people who asked for it. Their artistry shines through their latest release complimenting their entire music discography to date.
On the song, FODÉ says, “This song started as a joke but we took it seriously and turned it into art.”
