Hot on the heels of their recent single ‘Evil’ and continuing to prove themselves and their sound, Fright Years have unleashed their new track ‘Blue’ onto the world. Walking a tightrope between heavy riffs, roaring drums and high-octane performances and a masterful lead vocal that is both vulnerable and empowered is one that explodes with light. Amongst the new-school indie rock flair lies a rich noughties nostalgia, where the last single was a self-described rom-com, the new number leans into a confident coming-of-age anthem.
The band commented, ”Blue is about swallowing your pride and embracing the end of a relationship. It was one of the first songs we wrote as a band and has closed our set ever since. It's chaotic and messy.”
Meeting over a double-booked practice room at Edinburgh Art College and forming a sound that debuted to acclaim from BBC Introducing, Radio X, and Channel 4, Fright Years are quickly becoming one of the most exciting indie bands across their home city. Energetic performances at the likes of Y Not?, FOCUS Wales and Stag & Dagger showed their live power, whilst recent releases have seen the band garner press acclaim.
