Following on from the emphatic release of their comeback single ‘Auburn’ earlier this year, the esteemed alt-duo are back again with one final turn of the sonic paintbrush before the year is out. Announcing their latest anthem, they unleash new single ‘Days Wasted’.
A dreamy guitar line takes the airwaves by hold before an ethereal whirl of reverb, melody and percussion takes rapturous hold of the single. Before long, a spellbinding vocal pours out of the single, giving the single a light-hearted, heavenly touch. Backed by a mesmerising wall of sound, the single is just as much of a soundscape as it is a single with its masterful layering of elements and shining, post-punk-tinged swagger.
Speaking about the single, the duo comment, “When we wrote this song, we wanted to create a dream pop ballad, inspired by some of the records that came out in the early 2010s. We aimed for something very sweet and dreamy, but we also wanted to give it our own personal touch. That’s where the bridge comes in—we decided to disrupt the flow a little bit, shaking things up for the listener. We can’t just stick to a single genre or follow a standard formula; we always need to add our twist. That balance between the dreamy vibe and our unique touch is how the song came to life.”
