Liverpool-based 4-piece Honey Motel are back with a high-energy new single ‘Punch Drunk’, proving its ability to churn out invigorating pop songs, electrified with a psychedelic twist. Debuting in 2023, the band have since moved from strength to strength as they begin to make waves in the industry. Keeping the music at the core of their motives, Honey Motel has forged a unique sound that draws on a wide array of musical influences - from the golden era of Mac Demarco to the contemporary pop hits of Wallows
Starting with an anthemic riff and a huge accompanying drum beat, Honey Motel wastes no time in cutting a slice of indie-pop perfection with ‘Punch Drunk’. Complete with hook, riff and melody, the single feels like a celebration of everything that is great about Indie music. The tales of young love and self-discovery, coupled with pummeling drum fills and huge choruses, this single has it all.
The track draws influence from a whole host of experiences, leaning into chaotic nights out and the fleeting nature of romance. Speaking about the chaotic experiences referenced in the track, guitarist Sam Meredith explains “As you get into your twenties, all those who you think have it figured out really don’t, and those who seem really lost aren’t that lost at all. How can you know what you’re doing if you truly don’t know the point of it all? But at the same time, how can you be lost if you don’t know why you're here?”
