Wolfheart showcases Sæfari’s artistic journey over the past three years as he re-entered songwriting after a decade away. What started as a personal endeavour has become a bold expression of emotional honesty, drawing comparisons to the raw intensity of Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, and Jeff Buckley.
At its core, Wolfheart is about navigating heartbreak and finding meaning in pain and loss. With producer Sigurður Guðmundsson, Sæfari has crafted an album that moves seamlessly through alternative, folk, indie rock, and punk, blending lush arrangements of acoustic guitars, strings, synthesizers, Hammond organ, and even accordion. The result is a sonic palette that’s rich yet unpolished—perfectly capturing Sæfari’s Icelandic roots and grounding his music in an earthy, raw authenticity.
While each song tells its own story, the album’s haunting atmosphere and poignant lyricism connect all the tracks. From the yearning ballads to the indie-rock-infused anthems, Wolfheart is as musically varied as it is thematically intense. The album’s mixing by Marco Pasquariello and mastering by Guy Davie in London give it a timeless sound that feels both intimate and sweeping.
“The album is about capturing raw emotion and the human spirit… The songs on the album differ in mood and feel but maybe the most common mood is heartbreak. There are a number of songs on the album about the loss of love or the yearning of it. ” - Sæfari
Sæfari will kick off Wolfheart’s promotion with live performances across Iceland and plans to tour Europe. He also recently released a music video for ‘Ice Queen,’ a highlight of the album’s emotional landscape. Through Wolfheart, Sæfari delivers a memorable debut that feels like both a window into his soul and an exploration of universal human experiences.
