Hàn Gắn Break Hiatus With New Single “Bird of Burden”

Admin

Hailing from Virginia, J. Brian Nicewander and Matt T. Eng formed Hàn Gắn in the summer of 2017, drawing inspiration from the local punk scene they experienced in dive bars and basements. Now, the duo aims to establish themselves as an emerging underground act,  influencing others with their unique blend of alternative rock and punk, honed over years of performing and creating music.

Blending together forceful backbeats and sticky baselines, “Bird of Burden” is the perfect encapsulation of energy and sonic power. Their latest release also features a remastered rendition of “Soul’s Fire Escape” originally appearing on the duo's debut EP, as well as an instrumental dub version of “The Sound” from their album “Tragically Optimistic".

Discussing their single Hàn Gắn explains, “Bird of Burden began as a simple song idea years ago and gradually evolved through three distinct movements, becoming something entirely unexpected. The turmoil in Washington has felt like stepping into an abyss, but we hold on to our faith in the collective. Each of us carries our own burdens—like the Mariner and the albatross.”
