London based, American singer-songwriter and producer Ian Janco shines on the new single ‘Something New’.
Blending elements of Indie, Folk and even a spot of Country, the track is a heartfelt, honest recollection of a past relationship in contrast to the new reality post-break-up; lamenting the past with bittersweet melancholy. Blending a simplistic yet impactful mix of acoustic guitar, a soft four to the floor and strings, the tracks backing beautifully compliments the delicate, emotionally vocal delivery. Despite it's heartbreaking vocals, the bouncing beat and catchy vocal line propel the track towards a commercial market - the perfect blend of impactful songwriting and deeply personal and honest lyricism that holds nothing back.
Speaking about the track, Ian Janco said:
“Something New was written shortly after a breakup in the first Lockdown. It captures the feeling of knowing that a relationship is coming to an end, but still having love for a person even though they’ve moved on. On one of the darker days of that time, it just poured out of me - an expression of sadness and longing but also a kind of optimism for what’s to come. I hope that some people resonate with it and helps them get through whatever they may be going through.”
Taken from Ian Janco’s forthcoming Rapture EP, this is an exciting look at a talented up and coming songwriter. Listen below:
