Indyana releases the final single to be taken from her forthcoming album, ‘je fais mon univers’ as she pushes forward with her own distinctive grooves. Highlighting her work as a classically trained musician as well as a boundary-pushing artist, the single bridges the gap between atmospheric escapism and gripping dream-pop.
The single starts with a gentle guitar rhythm alongside carefully delivered vocals. The delicate nature of the track gives it ample room to breathe as Indyana’s voice soothingly folds out of the airwaves. Entwined between the gentle synthesizers and atmospheric guitar lines, an intrinsic sense of vulnerability allows the track to grow like a force of nature. The track was penned as a celebration of self-love and self-discovery. When translated, the title reads ‘I make my universe’, highlighting Indyana’s defiant approach to existence as well as music making. Speaking about the track, she shares, “from a very young age, ideologies relating to body image have been thrust upon me (and upon us all) so frequently that my own feelings of self-worth have been crushed time and time again. When I started writing this song at 20 years of age, I knew it would be the beginning of a long, difficult process of reframing these negative, and forcibly planted, habit patterns of my mind. Now, at 24 years of age, I recognise that this song has taught me a lot, even if I haven’t yet fully arrived at my destination of self-love. I hope its listeners will feel equally nurtured by its teachings; that they let it serve as a reminder of how beautiful and wondrous they truly are.”
