Interview - A-Legend

A-Legend is a low-key artist from the birthplace of hip-hop of The Bronx, New York. His musical journey began at church when he started singing at the age of five. He neatly transitioned to singing in choirs at elementary school, then went on to perform at open mics and performances through middle school and high school. He fell in love with hip-hop through his experiences in music class at the age of 12.

A-Legend returns with his brand-new single ‘The World Is Yours’. He goes through his melodic journey with boom bap, trap, and versatile flows to express his thought processes and his life experiences that he goes through on a daily basis. He only hopes the listener can vibe, relate, and resonate to his music.

“It means that we are all humans, we are not perfect, we all need love, even the ones who are misunderstood,” - A-Legend comments on the track.

We sat down with A-Legend to discuss his music and much more. Here's what he had to say:

Hey A-Legend, welcome to FLEX! How are you?

Hey, what’s sup? I’m good, taking it one day at a time.

Congratulations on your brand-new single ‘The World is Yours’ - what inspired this particular track?

Well what inspired this track is just trauma, pain, all the ish I see in today’s world, through social media, the news, ppls conversations, how toxic everything is even the music and how we need more love.

This release comes ahead of your forthcoming album. What can listeners expect from this project?

Well this is my third single to my third project. This isn’t how the whole set of tone is going to be. But there are other songs that have some of this vibe. But to not give everything away it’s a emotional Rollercoaster. I tap Into some new sounds on this project, I never experimented with. But definately a cohesive versatile project.

And do you have to be in a certain mood to write?

Yes, I have to go some sort of life experience I have to really be in that mood or zone to want to wrote something new it’s usually when I go through something, I have a lot to say.

How was the recording and writing process?

Well I recorded the song in AOA studio. And most of the project, I usually never know if I’m going to have a project till certain months and have certain songs I want to work to create a project and idea starts coming in.

For viewers that don’t know A-Legend, how would you describe your sound?

My sound will be like trap, melodic rap, a Lil old school hip-hop with a blend of the new school. I like to keep myself updated, be a student of the game.

And what are some of those activities that you engage yourself in when you aren't writing or recording in the studio?

Well I like to explore or go travel. Or go through life, read new ish, see what’s in the current climate of music, make my research, or even study old or new music. I go to bars sometimes get a certain element of music.
