Full Blown Meltdown is the exciting new project hailing from Huntsville, AL, by singer-songwriter Will Green. Fronting a post-punk sound that holds a nostalgic feeling to it, Green and his best friend and producer Tony McVaney cooped themselves up in a bedroom and recorded a plethora of songs together. The second instalment, following the highly successful debut in 'Let Me Hang, is the ferocious 'Party With Villains'.
Full of an undeniable energy that is hard to match, Full Blown Meltdown clearly goes into full swing in this relentless and euphoric brand of punk that feels raw, yet polished. A commercial appeal also surrounds Green in what is a truly unique sonic exploration that has already captured the attention of many. We sat down with him to learn the full extent of his musical repertoire, what we can expect from the album and much more, exclusively for FLEX. Check it out below!

Who and what inspires you to create?
Oh, that’s a loaded question! First and foremost, it’s my outlet for every negative thought that I have, and also for the good things going on in my life. I love creating art more than almost anything in the world, and I truly believe it helps me balance my scales mentally.
How did you first find your love for music?
My parents were HUGE into music as I was growing up, especially my father, who was always looking for great new bands to dive in to! I attribute a lot of who I am musically to him!
From initially finding an interest, how did you shape the sound that you know call your own?
When I initially went into the studio with my producer and best friend Tony McVaney, aka ERGOtheEGO, I had written a bunch of music and was just hoping to find myself. After about a year of trying, we landed on a sound that we both agreed worked best for my writing style and voice, and we ran with it!
Talk us through your journey with this album?
It’s been a 2 and a half year process, slowly but surely finding its footing. The album itself has been finished for more than half a year, and these current singles we are releasing are songs that just didn’t quite make the cut, but we still absolutely wanted them to see the light of day! I guess you could call them B-sides in a way, but in all reality I still loved them too much to have them sitting on a shelf forever.
How has your style and approach changed over the years?
When I initially wrote music, I was in a bunch of mildly popular hardcore and metalcore bands that were all signed and touring all the time. I fell out of love with that scene due to the amount of times my bands were completely screwed over by record labels and fell out of music in general for a while. Being back feels incredible, because it feels like a fresh start where people don’t just remember me as ‘the drummer of ‘X’.
You’re a brand new artist who has seen quite a rise on social media too, how do you feel looking back on your debut single ‘Let Me Hang’?
It’s been amazing! People have been incredibly supportive, and even though that was my least favourite song of the singles, it felt good to come out with a song that was very chaotic right off the bat! I’m just so grateful to everyone who has listened and helped me spread the word!
Talk us through the creation of your latest tune ‘Party With Villains’?
I wrote this song on the road and recorded a bunch of the vocals and guitars in my car and at a hotel room while traveling! Tony and I were only together two days of recording on this one in his bedroom studio but we got a ton done because he is an absolute pro. People underestimate what a great producer can do in a short time, but he killed it in the little time I gave him.

What are you trying to portray with that track?
This song was written while talking to a bunch of ‘higher ups’/mildly larger labels in the music industry again. They reminded me of why I left the scene in the first place. I’m releasing this album 100% DIY even with label offers still on the table because, as I said in the song, all they want is to ‘bite, chew, f*** and use you up before they rip your throat out’. In 2023, unless a labels offer is absolutely incredible, they just aren’t worth dealing with anymore.
Who would you compare your music to, who are your influences?
Someone influential to me that heard the album compared it to Motion City Soundtrack meets Pup I’m the 90’s and I love that comparison! Personally though, I just want to think bands like Third Eye Blind, Jeff Rosenstock, and others in that vein would be proud of it.
What do you want this debut album to say about you as an artist?
I want it to show people that you do NOT NEED anything fancy to be successful in 2023. A cheap recording rig, patience, good music, and most importantly, a good team of humans surrounding you is everything.
