INTERVIEW: MARCO ROVERE

Italian producer Marco Rovere returns to the forefront of the electronic music scene with his latest release, "One Way Ticket." As a key player in the Tech House and Techno genres, Rovere has consistently made his mark since launching his TBR8 label in 2016. With previous standout tracks like "Enemy," "Dream Vibes," and "Not Good," he has proven himself as a versatile artist, each release carving its own distinct space in the electronic music world.

"One Way Ticket" is no exception. From the first beat, the track pulls listeners into a dynamic sonic journey, merging the raw, unbridled energy of techno with a fresh, contemporary twist. The track's commanding basslines and relentless rhythms create a hypnotic, almost immersive atmosphere that captivates the listener from start to finish. Rovere's ability to blend elements of Techno, Deep, and House results in a sound that is both innovative and deeply rooted in his underground sensibilities.

With the release of "One Way Ticket," how do you see this track fitting into your journey since you kicked off TBR8 in 2016?

With "One Way Ticket," I’m trying to take my project to the next level and really show people what my music is about. This track is a big deal for me because it represents everything I’ve been working towards since I started, both as an artist and as my label TBR8. I’m really proud of how it turned out, and I hope it can bring more people in touch with my music. I put a lot of energy and passion into it and I really hope it can thrill as much as it does with me.

You started producing in 2015, and since then, your sound has really evolved. Can you share some key moments or experiences that have shaped the way you create music?

The big moment for me was in 2015 when I started really getting into making music. Studying at Waves Music in Genoa was huge for me because I met some amazing people who taught me so much. That's where I started shaping my sound, fusing techno with deep and house influences to create something that felt truly mine, and since then, everything I've done has been driven by passion and teamwork. Every track I make reflects the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve worked with. It’s been a journey full of learning, and I’m grateful for every step of it.

Running TBR8 has been a big part of your career. How has having your own label changed the way you approach making music and working with other artists?

The launch of TBR8 was a game changer for me. It has given me the freedom to fully express my artistic vision and explore new creative directions without any limitations. Running the label has also allowed me to work with other artists in a really meaningful way, bringing new ideas, allowing me to learn about new technicalities, new cultures and new music.. it really gets the creative energy flowing! TBR8 for me is not just a label; it is a platform where I can experiment, take risks and build something lasting together with other talented artists.

"One Way Ticket" has some pretty intense basslines and rhythms that really pull listeners in. What inspired you when you were creating this track, and what vibe were you aiming to capture?

I’m all about creating music that makes people dance, and with "One Way Ticket," I wanted to push that even further. The inspiration for this track came from a desire to blend the power of techno with the groove of deep and house music. I wanted to create something that’s not just a song but an experience - something powerful and exciting that you can feel in your bones. The basslines and rhythms were designed to create an intense vibe that’s both energizing and unforgettable. I’m really proud of how it turned out, and I hope it makes people feel the way I felt while creating it.

You’ve collaborated with a lot of different artists, both from Italy and abroad. How have these partnerships influenced your sound and the way you make music?

Collaborations have been a huge part of my journey. Each artist I’ve worked with has brought their own unique perspective and energy to the table, which has helped me grow and evolve as a producer. Whether working with artists here in Italy or abroad, these partnerships have introduced me to new ideas and sounds that I might not have explored on my own. My music today is a reflection of all these different influences, blending the core of techno with deep and house elements that make my sound unique. I’m really grateful for every collaboration because they’ve all played a role in shaping who I am as an artist.

As you keep pushing your music forward, what new directions or projects in Tech House and Techno are you most excited to dive into next?

I’m always looking for new ways to push my music forward and keep things fresh. Right now, I’m excited about diving deeper into Tech House and Techno, experimenting with new rhythms and sounds that can take my music in unexpected directions. There are several projects in the works that I’m really passionate about, and I’m eager to explore how I can continue to evolve my style. My goal is to keep making music that resonates with people and keeps them excited for what’s next. I’m ready to take on new challenges and see where this journey leads.
