Jack Howard unveils a journey in debut EP ‘All Things That Came Before’

Currently based in London, selling out shows at the likes of Prince Albert and Colours Hoxton left right and centre, whilst gracing acclaimed festival stages, there’s no doubt Jack Howard is a talent waiting in the wings. His versatile songwriting and evolving sound has been noted by the likes of Radio 1, and often dives into themes of growing up, masculinity and relationships.

The Portsmouth lad turned rising star’s latest project is debut EP All Things That Came Before, traversing a sound hard to pin down to any one genre, but journeying through pain and joy in a way that is exciting to take you on the ride. Across the five tracks, Jack creates a bubble, a self-contained narrative of what it means to be human.

This is delivered through an instrumental texture that is hard to define, the mixture of tonally rich guitars, intricate drumming and roaring synth design leading to an unbridled alternative atmosphere on ‘Just A Kid’ and a dreamy electronic nostalgia on ‘Another Day’. Hazy, polished, and captivating, it’s a fabulous debut EP.

Jack puts the release in his words, “I wanted this project to be a snapshot of me growing up and turning into the person I am today. Originally it was going to be a collection of songs I liked but as I started making these songs they slowly formed into a picture of my life. Each song is based around an experience I believe shaped me to be the man I am today. This EP centres around grief, hope, childhood and family.“
