Since enjoying a viral spell following his soulful rendition of Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off', Jesse Will has been on the climb. With new music on the horizon, he releases his soulful new single 'Hold My Skin'. Leaning into a gentle aura, the single focuses on the encompassing nature of human struggle, coupling together atmospheric synthesis and introspective lyricisms.
Diving into the single, he explains, “I was drawn toward the conflict that when someone is fragile, human touch can comfort but also cause further harm - that was eventually reflected in Sofia's choreography when it came to making the video. Opening up is a struggle for me, which feels at odds with being a songwriter. So, male vulnerability is central - a man traumatised and longing for love, but unable to reciprocate.”
With choreographer Sofia adding, “Jesse’s lyrics had an intense physicality which allowed me to access equally intense movements that reminded me of emotional suffocation and self-loathing. I saw the hands as an inner-voice inside Jesse - at different times perceived as good or bad - exploring the song’s notion that our thoughts define and confuse us…”
