'mercury' by kleio sees the brand embrace an added level of quality, expanding on similar ascensions made across their previous single 'four'. The band have found their sense of self in the new track, a niche for their sound that balances the captivating infectiousness with the authentic personality. Amongst the pounding drums, melodic bass lines and dreamy, shoegazey punk-edged-rock blend of guitar tones, is a sense of enjoyment, a need to tell the stadium-filling stories.
kleio delivers as if in front of a crowd, capturing the live feel with unparalleled energy and the occasional moment of performative liberation. The final moments bring together a roar of layers, the vocals and guitar both injected with new harmonies, making it a volcanic climax.
"Mercury was such a fun song to write,” Fronmant Luke adds, “I wrote the lyrics on the back of receipts while I was working in a shop and I'd go home every day filled with ideas on how the song should go. It ended up coming together fairly quickly once I took it to Alex, which was a nice change. When we played it live for the first time I remember our friends, who'd been watching us for a while, being blown away by it, the song felt like we had taken a step up in our quality and I'm so excited for people to hear it."
Irish newcomers kleio have consistently delivered roaring shows. Their sound is marked by constant improvement, reaching new heights with each release backed by a string of exciting live performances. Performing across their home country and now across the Irish Sea, they have sold-out shows in their own right, alongside support Post-Party.
