In the years since their formation on the Central Coast of Australia, Malakye Grind has charged into the rock scene with a distinctive blend of hard rock, grunge, and alternative rock.
The band garnered international acclaim with their 2021 debut album, Music for Midnight People. The record showcased the band’s musical versatility and universal appeal, with single “Wanna Party” featured on Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder. They now power forth in their explosive sophomore record, Dystopian Dream, teaming up once again with Forrester Savell to take the international stage with a blend of raw energy and thoughtful production.
Standout single “Every Day Is Perfect” is the second single to come from Dystopian Dream. The track explores the tension between personal agency and the societal pressures to project perfection. The repetition of "Every day is perfect, 'cause I said it is" in the chorus represents a willful affirmation of agency and inner determination, and as they share further, “it's about choosing how to frame your experience, even if you’re "sliding down the wall," metaphorically capturing the feeling of struggling but still declaring control over your outlook.”
On the single, Malakye Grind states, “for us, ‘Every Day is Perfect’ encapsulates this idea of fighting back against the pressures to present an idealized version of life and embracing the imperfections instead. It's both a sarcastic nod to society's obsession with perfection and an empowering message about reclaiming personal control—declaring that it's perfect because we choose to see it that way.”
Dystopian Dream presents a thrilling ride into the unknown, dealing with themes of social commentary and resilience in the face of adversity. On the record, the band shares, “it’s a reflection of our world–a wild, uncharted landscape of hope and decay. We’re staring into the storm, embracing the chaos, and chasing the music through the madness.”
Malakye Grind have garnered acclaim for their distinctive sound and dynamic stage presence. Following the release of their latest single, “Into The Night” and their sophomore record Dystopian Dream, Malakye Grind have seen a surge in popularity, gaining 14k Spotify listeners in month following its release. Their debut album, Music for Midnight People, saw significant airplay on international radio, leading to several film and television placements. Their tracks have also been featured on Rugby Nation Europe and American sports broadcasts, solidifying their place in the international rock scene.
