Marq Electronica has been top of my radar since his debut track ‘Get Down and Work It Out’ back in 2020. His unique brand of deep house, techno and electro-pop has seriously livened up my playlists and coloured some pretty grey days.
Since he set off on his solo adventure, his string of singles have seemed to flourish with each release. It’s always a blessing to find an artist and watch them find their sound throughout releases. In his latest release ‘I Thought I Knew It All,’ Marq Electronica has seemed to take a liking to the trance vibe of his sound.
Whilst this track is all about the heartache of unrequited love (I know, not what you think a banger would be about), Marq still managed to inject serious energy into the production. The bass is by far my favourite element. It may be repetitive, but the bass groove is so satisfying when cranked up in your headphones. Marq Electronica’s vocals are outstanding in this one, too. His raw, hearty vocals are the exact tone you’d want for a track about the heartache of someone walking away. There is nothing better than singing along to a vocalist who you know felt every word — and that is exactly what Marq Electronica has done here.
The spacious guitar riffs are a nice touch, almost fusing his electro-pop roots into the darker atmosphere. ‘I Thought I Knew It All’ is a totally relatable, trance inducing techno track, positively swimming with all the elements that make Marq Electronica’s discography so satisfying.
Booming bass, catchy melodic lines and lots and lots of passion.
